Having always enjoyed playing in and spectating sevens matches over the years, and having some down time from university studies I decided to enter Medicals RFC into several tournaments throughout the summer.

The aim was to retain existing players and attract new players for the regular season by showcasing some of our existing skills and drills, playing fast paced high intensity rugby and ultimately having fun as a team.

Having highlighted four tournaments in the calendar I sought out private sponsorship from north eastern businesses in order to assist with entry fees, strips, travel costs and all of the other expenses that come with such an event.

Our first outing as the 'Zenith Medicals' was a resounding success taking the Morpeth Sevens Social winners trophy, beating some highly accomplished competition along the way. The inital aim was achieved with a mixture of seasoned Medicals players, joined by some new faces playing an outstanding brand of rugby showcasing physicality, intensity and flare throughout rounded off with one of our players being awarded 'Player of the Tournament'.

Our next outing sees the Zenith Medicals competing at the Billingham Sevens where we hope for more of the same, building momentum and ultimately having fun as a team!
